The Fourth Generation

Wedding Crashers
The Wildcards have a Very Busy Afternoon

The crashed Dreadnought is still in the bay. Coronado Bridge has been rebuilt, part of it going through the ship.

Joey visited Lio briefly to return her housekey before returning to training with Ghost and Badger. Lucy and Robbie got metal sleeves to block the signal from their evil tattoos. Blue Hydra has awoken and been informed of where she is and that she'll be turned over to the authorities as soon as we have the chance. Vanessa has been out of contact, working with Betty as agreed, while spending her free time working with Cathy and sneaking out at night to stay by Kelsi.

Michael finally passed Vanessa in the hospital and took her aside for a talk, during which she agreed to be publicly known as Shield. She went on to see Kelsi, finding her awake, and the two talked, Vanessa making the significant gesture of taking off her gloves to hold Kelsi's hand.

We rejoin our heroes on the day of Frankie and Cygnus's wedding, and a team interview scheduled with 60 Minutes. The team arranges to meet up at the Sanctuary.

Before the meeting, Joey reveals to Pete, Michael, and Robbie that The Badger stuck a tracer in his neck. Pete removes it. Lio investigates Dr Infinity's house and finds a hidden laboratory with diagrams of the death orbs and two tubes of the liquid metal.

In the Sanctuary, Sarah familiarizes everyone with the setup. They discuss the team name, throwing out a couple ideas before settling on Wildcards. Michael arranges to get his mom, Sarah's parents, and Dr Betty in contact with each other. Although several members of the team are hesitant about the interview, Michael insists that everyone be present so that Halcyon residents will be able to recognize them for heroes. Vanessa is allowed to opt out for reasons that I missed.

Pete and Ugat take the helm during the interview. The only really interesting part is that the new name is publicly unveiled. The proceeding is thankfully interrupted by an intruder alert from Max 2000. A reporter attempts to come with them, but Pete shoos them off. Alerting Vanessa, the team heads back to the Sanctuary, prepared to deal with Dr Infinity trying to take her old base back.

They find not only Dr Infinity, but also Siphon and Black Raven in the Sanctuary, Blue Hydra broken out and Dr Infinity working at the computer. Along with her are four (six?) of the death orbs.

Black Raven attacks Calavera at the head of the group; both Bodyguard/Shield and L'Esprit move to protect her, and Black Raven flees when Shield presses the attack. Siphon attacks Reflect, stealing his teleportation powers and teleporting the two back outside. Ugat takes control of one of the death orbs and uses it to blow up another. Officer and Pete go after Dr Infinity but are brushed off ("Unhand me, small disco child!"); Calavera finally succeeds in getting her away from the computer. L'Esprit tries to engage Blue Hydra, who grabs her. Dr Infinity says that they got what they came for and vanishes with Hydra, L'Esprit, and the remaining death orbs.

Siphon surrenders. Ugat turns the captive death orb over to Pete to add to his growing trophy collection. They start preparing to deal with the wedding in less than two hours and, more importantly, the imminent alien invasion after that. Lucy joins them for this process.

L'Esprit finds herself in a dark, unfamiliar room. Dr Infinity offers to let L'Esprit work for her, using the super-steroids until Infinity can turn her into a cyborg. An Oolu guard lets Infinity and Hydra know that the wedding will be soon. It turns out that L'Esprit is in the basement of the Hotel Coronado. Dr Infinity has one of the orbs pin L'Esprit to a wall to deal with later. Lio contacts Pete, letting him know where she is and about the guard, and she tells them not to do anything dangerous to get her. Joey wants to rescue Lio anyway, but Sarah talks him down.

Pete contacts Cygnus to try and get her to make a distraction. Cygnus is not cooperative. Lucy loses patience with the team's dithering, so sheds her arm-guard and heads out on the Kirby-scooter to cause the needed distraction. Immediately the guard at the hotel musters shuttles and scooters to give chase. Reflect teleports out to join her. The remaining team hurriedly finishes planning and sets out for the hotel.

Left alone, L'Esprit frees herself and scouts out the hotel, locating General Mikey and Mother Dearest at Pete's suggestion. Vanessa shows up to challenge the General to public combat. L'Esprit passed on that the General, Lucy's dad, is worried about her and could be turned against the invaders for her sake. Vanessa confronts the General and talks him into take a dive. He won't fight her until after the wedding ceremony, though, relegating that to Plan B.

Meanwhile, over with Plan A, Officer shows up to bug Frankie. Frankie reacts quickly enough to grab him, and Officer is arrested and shuffled off to the side. His Badgerphone buzzes, but he's unable to answer due to the whole handcuffs thing. Pete confronts his brother, but Mother Dearest density-pins him and tells him to stand by as the Best Man like he's supposed to be.

Also meanwhile, Ugat asks the hotel plants where the villains have gone. They direct him to the crashed dreadnought.

The wedding ceremony begins. Frankie is beyond pleased. Cygnus is beautiful. Everything is perfect so long as you ignore the sounds of the scooters chasing Lucy and Reflect. Even L'Esprit stun-gunning the guard and freeing Officer fails to disrupt the ceremony.

Then Pete gets free of his mom, drawing his peashooter and demanding Frankie admit before the cameras that the invasion is already underway. Frankie starts to comply, but before he can say the words, he's blasted aside — by none other than Mother Dearest. Mom announces that the ceremony will continue, but Pete will marry Cygnus instead. Calavera bubbles Pete and Cygnus while Officer steals Mom's gun.

Seeing that the ceremony is all but off, Vanessa and the General begin their duel.

Meanwhile, Blue Hydra, Dr Infinity, and Vanquish have taken over the dreadnought. It begins to lift off, destroying Coronado Bridge (again). Reflect, having taken care of the Oolu chasing them, crashes the Kirby scooter into the dreadnought cockpit. He teleports he and Lucy off it at the last second and onto the hull of the dreadnought. Although tragic, the sacrifice of the scooter does very little except give Ugat an objective when he starts climbing up the dreadnought. Officer finally picks up the Badgerphone and is instructed to head to the dreadnought.

Black Raven shows up, proclaiming that she and the three supervillains are the New Exemplars. She is ignored as Ugat gets Officer to use Mother Dearest's gun to cut them a path into the cockpit. Black Raven is not pleased by this and in response melts the hull open. Officer tackles Dr Infinity away from the ship's controls while Reflect handles Vanquish.

Back at the wedding grounds, a ring has gathered around Vanessa and General Mikey as they battle, her holding her own while remaining visibly human. She hears Bodyguard 12's voice in the crowd urging her on.

Cygnus tries her voice power at Pete's urging, only for it to reflect off the bubble and knock her out. Calavera pulls the bubbles off them and onto Pete's mom instead. Pete starts to fly off with Cygnus and his mom despite the latter continuing to fight him.

Dr Cosmos — a wedding guest — mind-freezes everyone who is fighting. Vanessa breaks through it, in the process going fully metallic. L'Esprit sneaks up and stun guns him, releasing the freeze. Vanessa knocks Mikey down and he concedes the fight. Pete and Sarah fly to his ship with Cygnus and his mom. L'Esprit picks up the wounded and unconscious Frankie and heads out to find him medical help.

Once more back to the dreadnought, Badger calls Officer back to the reactor room. As Officer arrives, he recognizes that it's about to overload and grabs Badger to get him out.

The dreadnought explodes, throwing the fighters in the cockpit clear and sending massive pieces of shrapnel everywhere. Vanessa deflects a piece from the wedding party but it still critically injures a civilian.

When the blast clears, L'Esprit, Officer, and the unconscious Frankie suddenly find themselves no longer by the bay, but rather in the middle of a street — with the irate driver of a 30s-style roadster honking at them.

Delinquents Gold Team in... The Gang Initiates An Alien Invasion
... or... Flight of the Black Raven

Pete Friendly's patented Crime Toaster popped, the word "Crime!" burnt darkly into the sourdough! He flipped the bread inquisitively to note the map showing the location of the voracious villainy.

"As I well know, the darkness of the toast burn indicates the severity of the crime… This must be something big!" the otherworldly Outsider said aloud, despite being alone. "I must call upon the forces of… The Delinquents!"

Using his mighty mental powers, Outsider called out to his friends for assistance! He received a hard pass from his first choices, Ugat, Calavera, Bodyguard, and L'Esprit. In a fit of desperation, he reached out to Cygnus, who just thought about the sound of a dial tone until he disconnected. With a sigh, he finally called Reflect and Officer, who were happy to assist.

With the Gold Team assembled, Outsider's Ooloo fighter™ flew in hot to the scene of the crime. Police officers were taking cover behind cars as hunks of asphalt were hurled at them at high speed. The camera panned up slowly to reveal… The Villainous Vanquish! Now freed from the shackles preventing him from using his powers, he was tearing up the street with an intense focus, flanked by a pair of jackhammer wielding henchmen wearing sweatshirts with a big "V" on them.

Acting with abandon, the optimistic Officer leapt from the ship at speed, quickly dispatching with both henchmen. Outsider and Reflect then casually walked from the ship, looking confusedly at Officer.

"Sup, Vanquish," said the recalcitrant Reflect.

"Reflect! How are you? Why did your little friend beat up my day laborers?" Vanquish replied.

"We really don't know," said Outsider.

Vanquish revealed that he was digging for a power source he buried back in the 70's. It used to be a field (confirmed by Officer), but has since been paved over. He had almost got to it, but there's one problem. It was contained in some sort of… container. A container impenetrable to even Vanquish's might.

"… but with your teleporting ability, you can retrieve the power source for me! Bwahahahaha!" Vanquish continued laughing evilly for a solid 5 minutes.

Reflect questioned Vanquish about his intended uses for the power source. He was informed that it could power anything, Death Rays, Star Ships, Doomsday Devices.

"Dude, I'm a hero. That's not cool," said Reflect, before realizing that, actually, it was pretty cool. Reflect agreed to assist Vanquish… or so it seemed.

Secretly, using Outsider's telepathy as a conduit, Reflect formed a plan to bamboozle their felonious foe. He would teleport into the container and grab the enemy source… but he wouldn't return it to Vanquish. Instead, he would teleport it into Outsider's Ooloo fighter™ and they would take off. Meanwhile, Officer would use his speedy superpowers to dazzle and distract Vanquish. It was a perfect plan, and nothing could possibly go wrong.

OR COULD IT?

The plan began just fine, before immediately falling apart. Reflect teleported inside the container, finding a large, glowing, egg-like object.

"Easy, peasy, I'll be out in a breezy, just as I pleasy," Reflect rhymed, reaching for the egg with his evil hand. As he touched it, he immediately blacked out.

Outside the container, Officer began his part of the plan, zipping around Vanquish in circles at a high speed. Vanquish stood in the center of the ring of rapidity, confused as to why the child was running around him.

"Don't mind him," said Outsider. "He has ADD."

"I'm full of energy!" shouted the Officer.

Outsider reached out to Reflect's mind, but heard an actual dial tone. After a while of waiting, Vanquish became annoyed at Officer running around him, and hit him, sending him flying. He went over to the container, and started striking at it, trying to open it.

Elsewhere, Reflect awoke in a strange white room, empty except for a door, a cot, and a young Ooloo lady with a similar evil arm tattoo as Reflect's.

"Hi," she said.

The Ooloo revealed her name to be Haiosdhfgdsjbfhsdjcoaishyuaibsj, but her Earth name is Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.

"Wow, that's a really long name," said Reflect. "It's also an LSD reference. Your name is a reference to a drug. I'm just gonna call you 'Lucy.'"

"Ok," Lucy replied.

They then moved in to high five, and found that their hands passed through each other. After a discussion of which one of them might be a ghost, Lucy picked up a ball, and threw it at Reflect. It went right through him. After discounting the possibility that it might be the unquiet soul of a dead ball, Reflect realized that he was probably the ghost. But, then eventually worked out that he was probably… a dupe or something? Something… to be revealed later.

Reflect then learned that Lucy was a prisoner, they were onboard Outsider's Mom's Ooloo Dreadnaught Class Battle Ship™, and the tattoo is a mark of Ooloo prisoners, before waking up back on Earth inside the container. He tried to wipe the sweat from his brow with an exaggerated sigh, but found he couldn't because the tattoo on his arm was fused with the Egg-ish energy source. His whole sleeve was burnt off, revealing the full tattoo, which glowed brightly, the same color as the Egg. Despite this, Reflect alerted Outsider that the plan was still on. He teleported with the egg onto Outsider's Ooloo fighter™.

To further confuse Vanquish, Outsider used his telepathy and density shifting to rip open the container's door, revealing it to be empty. He told Vanquish that Reflect had a teleporting accident, and was at the ruins of the Hollywood Hills with the power source now. Vanquish flew off to meet him.

The Gold Team met back up aboard the ship and saw Reflect's predicament, still fused to the power source. Reflect told them about the prisoner, and the prisoner mark she had.

"Oh yeah, I guess your tattoo does look familiar," said Outsider. "It's a mark of exile for the worst Ooloo prisoners. The only way to get it off and free you will be to a) cut your arm off, or b) get a high ranking Ooloo officer like my Mom or maybe Frankie / Freddie 4real to release you of it."

"Let's make cutting off my arm Plan B," said Reflect.

The gang went to find Fredankie 4real. He confirmed that he could remove the mark, but then Reflect's arm just released itself from the egg. The egg looked completely drained of energy, but Reflect's tattoo glowed bright.

"Never mind, Fredfrank," Reflect said. "I want to keep it now. This thing's gotta have some cool power."

META – Holy crap, writing like this takes forever. I'm just gonna wrap up with some details.

Gold Team rescues Lucy, but the Ooloo are aware of it! Officer is being mentored by Badger! Cygnus wants to break up the wedding! We learned that the purpose of the Ooloo inspection wasn't to see if we were "worthy", it was to see if we were capable of fighting back against an inevitable invasion! Gold team fought a bunch of Kriby-Scooter riding Ooloo soldiers! Gold Raven (now, Black Raven) is now all evil and working with Vanquish! Vanquish stole and crashed the Dreadnaught into the Coronado Bridge! Outsider publicly rebuked his family and stood on the side Earth as the invasion begins!

Rehearsal Dinner

See Delinquents Gold Team in… The Gang Initiates An Alien Invasion a variation on events below

The wedding between Frankie for Real and Cygnus is getting prepared at The Hotel del Cornado. Considered the event of the year all the big names are invited. Pete Friendly is busy trying to help his brother but his "crime" device goes off. He excuses himself but Frankie tells him to hurry back as there mom is about to head down.

Pete assembles Reflect and Joey to help. The find Vanquish tearing about a parking lot in Chula Vista. Vanquish treats them as allies and asks for there help. He says he buried a powerful power source in the area before he was arrested but needs Reflects help as he won't be able to get it out of its storage container. The agree to help him find it in hopes to keep it out of his hands. Pete picks up a faint signal and Vanquish digs up the container. Reflect teleports in finding an egg that is glowing. When he touches it Relfect's tattoo on his arm starts to glow and he passes out. When Vanquish gets suspicious Pete tricks Vanquish saying Reflect has his egg at the Hollywood sign and he flies off.

Reflect find himself in a strange alien room where a young alien woman with the same tattoo is getting her hair brushed by a robot. She notices Reflect and asks why he has an Exile Tattoo on his arm. He says it was by accident and find out that her name is Lucy in the Sky. An Oolu who is prisoner for leading another planet against the Oolu. Reflect finds out she is scheduled for execution and she asks for his help when.

Reflect returns to the container and finds his Tattoo is wrapped around the power-egg and absorbing it. He teleports back to the ship and they leave.

Pete flies the ship to Coronoda hearing that his mother's congregation has landed with 5 shuttles and around 30 Oolu. Pete wants to talk to Frankie and Joey zips out and tries to grab him embarressing the two of them. They talk and Frankies says he need to talk to Cygnus.

The egg stops glowing but Reflects tattoo does not. He decides to try to teleport back to the ship though he has never teleported that far. He succeeded and asks Lucy if she wants to escape. She is hesitant thinking escaping might be a mistake but then agrees and they teleport back down.

Pete and Joey wait for Reflect and Joey decided to scout the area. He is tripped up by The Badger who puts a tracker on him and then says he wants to take him on as an apprentice so Joey doesn't make the same mistakes as Ghost. Joey agrees but only if he makes up with Ghost. Badger says he will try if Ghost tries.

Cygnus meets up with Pete saying she made a mistake and wants to call of the wedding. She has feeling for Pete and can't deny them. Pete says he will talk to Frankie and she kisses him on the cheek and flies away.

Reflect and Lucy teleport back into the middle of the Oolu congregation. Reflect immediately teleports back to Pete's ship. The four try to decide what to do as they know the Oolu will be after them soon. Reflect decides to teleport him and Lucy to downtown and they will walk as civilians. To everyones' surprise Lucy could change her skin color and blend in.

Joey finds Ghost at a bar flirting with a woman. He tries to convince him to talk to Badger and he gets upset and then becomes enraged when he says Ghost is not a cop.

Vanquish calls Reflect and asks him why he is not at the Hollywood sign. Reflect says that the Oolu stole the power-egg. He asks where Reflect is and he gives Vaniquish his position. A little later Gold Raven flies over looking in his general direction. She is now wearing and black costume.

Reflect and Lucy find they are being tracked by Oolu scouts. Reflect is able to teleport but they find them again soon after. Pete says they are tracking the tattoos. Pete figures out that the box the stored the power-egg could block the transmissions of the tattoo.

When they try to retrieve it Black Raven and Vanquish are already there looking around. Reflect again insists that the Oolu have the power-egg on the dreadnought and they must attack it. Vanquish agrees and the two fly off and attack the ship.

Soon after the scouts catch up and attack. They quickly take out the scouts and are able to load the container on the ship where Reflect and Lucy hide giving them a moment of privacy. Lucy moves close but Reflect not sure what to do gets embarrassed and they both turn away.

A little later the dreadnought crashes into the bay crushing the Coronado bridge. It is reported that they have captured Vanquish but Black Raven got away.

Pete's mom confronts him angry and insists that he and the Delinquent Corp show up to the wedding except for Reflect who will be arrested. He refuses.

Picking Up the Pieces

In the wake of the Exemplar meltdown, Halcyon has been in chaos. More than usual, I mean. The fight at Homecoming has been all over the news, bringing attention to Sarah's unmasking. The splintered Exemplars have gone to ground, with Gold Raven and Miracle Woman's roles still a mystery. Long-forgotten villains have come out of retirement, suddenly at full power once again — with them, new villains, emboldened by the bedlam. There has been no sign of Atomic.

In the midst of it all, the soon-to-be-renamed Delinquents under Ugat's leadership have declared (at least temporary) neutrality. Ugat has also made clear he will not tolerate any infighting, regardless of Exemplar loyalties — punching Exemplars is fine, but punching each other is not.

We rejoin our heroes a week after Homecoming.

- During school, Michael asks Sarah to arrange a neutral ground on which he and Lio can talk and do some team-building. Sarah has just the thing in mind, but it's a surprise.

- Sarah approaches Roy. He is not unfriendly but a bit wary now. An ex-girlfriend of his grabs his arm and pulls him away, calling Sarah a freak and saying he's been trying to get away from 'that kind of thing'. Sarah tells him to call her.

- Lio has been trailing drug dealers and managed to track them back to a run-down apartment. She sees the leader and a group of dealers leave the building. A laser suddenly cuts one of the dealers in half. Lio finds the lasers originate with a group of four spheres of liquid metal, similar to mercury or to the substance being tested in the THULE base. One of the dealers shoots a death orb but it does not deter them. The death orbs kill the dealers; all but the leader, who escapes by taking the super-steroid and leaping across the roofs. Lio sees the orbs enter the apartment building, then two of them exit again, escaping into the sewers. The drugs in the apartment have all been taken and another dealer slain, but the civilian inhabitant spared. Lio calms her and takes her to the hospital.

- Later Lio meets Sarah and Michael. Sarah has arranged for the three of them to go through an escape room together. While they puzzle it out, they talk. Michael tries to figure out Lio's motivations. She remains cagey, but she insists that they don't need to worry about her. They manage to get the door open, only for Michael's mom Rose to be standing on the other side. She says that The Badger needs their help.

- The Badger tries to recruit them to help take down Omega, whom he calls the greatest criminal threat in Halcyon now. He insists that Omega has never agreed with Dr Cosmos's leadership and thus went behind his back. They believe that Gold Raven and Miracle Woman are working with Omega. Michael asks for evidence, unwilling to act on hearsay. Lio accuses Badger of arranging the meeting to try and get to Lady Night through her. Badger tells them that anyone else Omega kills is on their hands, and flounces off with a smoke bomb. Rose tells Michael she wants him to work with Badger and be more heroic. She leaves as well.

- Lio, Michael, and Sarah discuss the mystery of Miracle Woman and the various other odd and contradictory occurrences surrounding the Exemplars, THULE, and the Bodyguards.

- In the Signet household — I think? — Vanessa and Cathy spar and then Vanessa has an argument with Betty, demanding to know why Betty took them from Bodyguard. The answer upsets her. Vanessa takes Cathy and leaves.

- Sarah takes Lio and Michael to Mission Trails. Vanessa and Cathy meet them, and Vanessa introduces Cathy, who immediately takes to climbing on Michael. Sarah shows them her Sanctuary: an extensive secret base under Mission Trails that used to belong to Dr Infinity and was shut down after her arrest. Sarah and her mother have been cleaning it up for the last month, so it looks like a Lisa Frank store exploded inside a paramilitary bunker. Sarah offers it as the new team base.

- An alarm goes off on the Sanctuary's supercomputer. A satellite image shows Blue Hydra attacking a house in La Jolla. Then everything freezes and Sasha Blaze strolls in through one of the holes, revealing that her power has a limited range. The team decide to use the Sanctuary's teleportal to intervene, but as soon as Ugat passes through he's caught within Sasha's sphere of influence. Calavera is able to telekinetically pull him back to the Sanctuary. They follow on the satellite feed instead. Sasha Blaze pushes a woman out of the house. L'Esprit is able to identify the house as Colleen Drake's. Blue Hydra wraps up Drake and makes off with her.

- Hydra starts to hide her power, so the Sanctuary computer — named Max 2000 — begins to lose her signal. The team uses the teleportal again to confront the villains. Sasha has Drake at knifepoint to urge her into a building, but Calavera puts up a shield and Bodyguard grabs Drake to carry her out of harm's way. Out of nowhere, Omega also arrives, grabbing Blue Hydra. Cathy, eager to take part, punches Omega. Bodyguard rushes back to pull her away.

- Sasha grabs Calavera, holding the knife to her throat, and puts a gloved finger in Calavera's mouth. Ugat snatches Calavera away. L'Esprit stun guns Sasha, who tries to hit her with the glove and Calavera's vitality-sapping saliva, but L'Esprit shrugs it off. Frightened by the stun gun, Sasha backs away, saying she only wants Sarah. L'Esprit says she can't have her. Calavera uses her telekinesis to pull the glove off Sasha, and Sasha retreats in a blink.

- Meanwhile, Omega and Blue Hydra have kept each other well occupied, with some interference from Bodyguard and Cathy. Omega tears apart the Hydra heads, Blue Hydra screaming in pain with every loss. She manages to get the upper hand, so Ugat punches her out, only for Omega to begin ripping the heads off again. Ugat calls him out. Omega nonetheless picks her up and throws her into a wall, knocking her cold. While L'Esprit checks on her, Ugat admonishes Omega. Omega argues that Hydra deserves to die after the damage she's done and that Dr Cosmos has been influencing the super courts so that villains get off light, and besides the super-prison has been destroyed so there's nowhere to hold her.

- Ugat tells Omega that they'll take her into custody themselves, and L'Esprit stands between Omega and Hydra. After a tense moment, Omega leaves. They take Hydra back to the Sanctuary and lock her up there, to be dealt with later through the proper legal channels. Ugat calls Drake, leaving her a voicemail that simply says "You're welcome."

- Vanessa gets a call from Kelsi that she's in trouble, but it gets cut off. Max 2000 traces Kelsi's phone to Halcyon High. Vanessa rushes off on foot, reaching the school before Max can pinpoint the location and get the teleportal configured. She finds Kelsi surrounded by drug dealers and sees Kelsi take a dose of the super-steroid. Vanessa rushes in to grab Kelsi, but Kelsi hits her. Vanessa goes into a rage and in a few seconds has flattened everyone, including Kelsi.

- Arriving moments too late, Lio talks Vanessa down while Michael and Sarah make sure everyone is still alive, and Sarah confiscates all of the super-drug they find. Michael hands Cathy over to Vanessa to help calm her down. Cathy is confused to see Vanessa crying.

- They tip off the cops to the hurt drug dealers and take Kelsi to the hospital. Vanessa stays in the waiting room and the rest stay with her for moral support.

- Lio steps away to get snacks or something. Lady Night takes the opportunity to speak to her confidentially. Night wants her help taking down Dr Cosmos, calling him the greatest criminal threat in Halcyon. She says he's been mind-controlling the Exemplars subtly, influencing them to make decisions that they wouldn't normally make. Lio asks what Lady Night wants from her. Night gives her back her necklace. She explains that her own invisibility is from The Spectre's ring, and that she hasn't been able to activate a power from the necklace, but she thinks Lio can. Before Night leaves, Lio gives her a condition: If Lady Night, Omega, or anyone associated with them goes after Joey for any reason other than self-defense, any deal between them is off. Night says she hopes it doesn't come to that.

- Vanessa recovers enough from her shock to call Betty. She negotiates, agreeing to come home and do as Betty says, so long as Betty lets Cathy go to school and have the opportunity to be a normal kid. Vanessa leaves with Cathy.

Bring a Date

So, the world exploded. In a metaphorical sense, although there were some literal explosions involved. But, before that, we must return to a simpler, more innocent time… Thursday morning.

- Colleen Drake calls in the group (minus Vanessa, who listens in on a phone). She tells them there's been a leak of an experimental THULE super-steroid. She wants them to look into it being distributed at the school, find the dealers and their suppliers and confiscate the drugs. Getting drugs out of school seems like a good idea so they agree.

- Pete learns there's an Oolu destroyer out near the moon. He contacts it and is greeted by his mother, who wanted to arrive early for the wedding and plans to visit Earth on Saturday.

- Michael calls a group meeting and everybody gets caught up on the story so far. During the meeting, Sarah talks to Michael, Joey, and Lio, and decides to be more friendly with Roy but establish firm boundaries about kissing. Also during the meeting, Pete synthesizes an antidote for the drug out of a bottle of Mountain Dew, but it's single-use.

- They decide to have Robbie pretend to be a dealer, selling for far cheaper than normal. Their first plan is to have Kelsi spread the word. Vanessa approaches her, but Kelsi gets angry and storms away.

- Backup plan is to set up a sting operation. Joey pretends to take the drug given to him by Robbie and races football player Simon. Another player, Thad, trips/shoves Joey but Joey gets back up and still wins. Simon demands a rematch while Roy talks to Robbie, disbelieving that his old friend is now a drug dealer. Joey wins the second race. Simon tries to punch him, but fails repeatedly, tiring himself out and just making him more angry. The football players arrange to buy pills from Robbie for the game tomorrow.

- Later (next day?) there is a pre-homecoming pep rally. Joey, Sarah, Michael, Pete, and Violetta all attend. Lio and Robbie and I think Vanessa? skip out, remaining outside. Many things happen at once.

- Joey recognizes one of the teachers is actually Miracle Woman. She seems nervous. Sarah sees a brief glimpse of Sasha, but she's gone when Sarah tries to point her out to Joey. Michael gets called out onto the floor, everyone cheers him and cheerleaders hang off him. Lindsey is still cold. Back in the stands Violetta starts to show her own plant powers but is met with fright and disgust.

- The outside group spot a kid talking to Simon by the bleachers. Robbie recognizes him as another old friend, Thomas. Lio recognizes signs of him being on the drug or otherwise 'improved'. Thomas wants to talk to Joey, so sends Simon to find him. While he's doing that, Robbie greets Thomas and convinces him that they should work together. When Thomas leaves, Pete and Robbie follow in his camouflaged spaceship while Lio follows on the ground.

- Atomic appeared over the school. Pete mind-talked to him and was rudely pushed away, but learned that Atomic was after Miracle Woman. Atomic flew off. Michael went after him with Vanessa. They catch up to him. He is unfriendly, especially to Vanessa, who he sticks in the ground up to her waist. He's willing to go with Michael, though, as long as Michael promises to keep out of his way from now on. Michael and Atomic go to the hospital to see Rose. At the sight of her, Atomic freaks out, but Michael manages to talk him down. Atomic admits he attacked her, that he was just supposed to damage her car and didn't mean to hurt her, and he didn't know she was Michael's mom. He fixes her shoulder. Vanessa, who has dug herself out and thinks Michael is in trouble, crashes into the room through the ceiling and yanks Atomic's legs out from under him. Atomic retreats without a fight.

- Simon finds Sarah and gets her to call Joey out. Simon quickly becomes hostile and attacks Joey, gets ahold of his superhero uniform and pulls it out. Simon thinks it's ridiculous and taunts Joey. Joey agrees to another, public race against Simon, planning to lose this time to get Simon off his back. He snatches back his uniform.

- Lio, Robbie, and Pete see Thomas meet with a kid from Clairemont High, Bone. Thomas and Bone head to the pier and a submarine begins to emerge to meet them, but Thomas suddenly attacks Lio with metallic tendrils. Lio stun guns him. Robbie takes a dose of the drug and swings on Bone, stunning him and then breaking his jaw. Pete tries to go after the submarine, but Thomas recovers enough to hit him with the tendrils, stealing his telepathy. Lio zaps him again, Pete turns into a giant winged anteater and slings him into a wall. Robbie, still amped up, punches Thomas out and tries to keep hitting him. Lio pulls him away and Robbie teleports off to try and swim after the submarine, which is long gone. Lio and Pete stand by to see how long until the drug wears off. Once it does, they take Thomas into Pete's ship for questioning and tip off the cops to Bone.

- Onward to the Homecoming Game. Everyone attends, either for fun or to keep an eye on proceedings. Pete leaves Thomas locked in a room on his ship and sends it into space so he can't escape.

- The football game starts okay, Simon is doing better than expected. Then the other team from Clairemont High start juicing up, and there are several injuries, mostly of Halcyon High players. Lio approaches a coach and suggests they call the game due to clear outside interference. The coach agrees, to the ire of the players and crowd. The players are still amped and hostile, and Roy gets knocked unconscious in the confusion. Sarah puts a forcefield around him and rushes to make sure he's okay, revealing her powers to the school in the process. Joey dons his uniform and steals the Clairemont High mascot to make them chase him so they'll work out their excess energy.

- Then the Hall of Heroes explodes. Things go into a rapid tailspin after that.

- Robbie, Vanessa, and Pete rush to the Hall, while Joey, Lio, and Sarah remain in the stadium, and Michael says fuckit and heads home.

- At the Hall of Heroes they find Miracle Woman unconscious and the three rescued villains — Dr Infinity, Vanquish, and Blue Hydra — ransacking the place. I was not present for most of this so someone else will have to fill in this part.

- Meanwhile in the stadium, Omega suddenly crashes down from the sky into the middle of the football field, followed by Dr Cosmos. Sarah asks what's going on. Dr Cosmos instructs her to hold 'this criminal', indicating Omega. She puts a forcefield around him. Joey attempts to attack Dr Cosmos, but a quick mindlink leaves him in tears instead. Omega recovers and Sarah lets him go to keep Dr Cosmos occupied. Lio and Sarah start to clear the rest of the civilians from the stadium and try to get Joey to help.

- The Badger swings in, but his cord is cut by Lady Night. Lady Night tells Lio to take out Dr Cosmos while Badger tells Joey to go after Omega. Lio draws her guns but Joey steals them from her; she draws a third gun and fires anyway but Dr Cosmos has shields up now. Sarah puts another bubble around Omega. Dr Cosmos starts to shrink it so Sarah drops it. She and Lio agree that Dr Cosmos is the greatest danger and try to find a way for Sarah to get close enough to power him down.

- Cygnus spots Michael and asks him what the plan is. He decides to return after all and gets an update from Pete. Returning to the stadium, Michael sends up roots to break Dr Cosmos' shields. Sarah uses the distraction to kiss him, draining him of his powers.

- Back in the Hall of Heroes, Robbie and Pete convince the villains to come with them to fight the Exemplars. They rush off, leaving Vanessa behind dealing with Atomic. Again everything was very loud and chaotic here and I did not catch most of this interaction.

- Joey goes into hyperspeed to try and protect Badger and Dr Cosmos, knocking Sarah away in the process. Lio makes sure Sarah is okay. The villains arrive at the stadium and Robbie tries to get the Exemplars' attention so they'll fight the villains rather than each other. Lio and Sarah retreat on Lio's motorcycle.

- Michael sends Robbie and Joey back to the Hall of Heroes to make sure Vanessa is okay. They find he's removed her metal plating into a floating orb and she's struggling with it while he is despondent. Robbie yells at him. Atomic lets her metal return to her and tells them to leave. He melts the entire Exemplar tower down behind them, with no sign that he left it.

- The two Exemplar factions and the villains disappear, leaving a half-destroyed stadium in their wake.

The Bright Side of Halycon

- The Outsider puts together a device to detect crimes. After a few false positives, he rallies L'Esprit and Reflect to an apartment in Clairemont Mesa. They stop a domestic dispute when the police show up and The Outsider detects another presence. The Outsider tries to deal with the police but gets arrested. Reflect and L'Esprit sneak up on the presence and find it is Lady Night who was watching them. She argues with L'Esprit over ownership of the black opals, revealing she and L'Esprit might be related. Lady Night tells L'Esprit to retire before she gets hurt and attacks to prove her point. L'Esprit is able to defend herself and even briefly subdue Lady Night. Lady Night tells her if she is going to imitate The Spectre she needs to do it for real and hands her automatic pistols before disappearing.

- Meanwhile, the cop takes The Outsider to a meeting with Mr Bright, who wants the Delinquents to leave petty crimes 'to the police' and offers to call Outsider with tips when real super villainy is going down. Outsider reluctantly agrees and gets a picture of Mr Bright for his contact information.

- As everyone is getting ready for bed The Outsider's crime device goes off for a crime in Chula Vista. At the same time Mr Bright gives him a call, saying Sacrifice is menacing a club in PB. Outsider and Reflect check out PB while L'Esprit heads to Chula Vista.

- Reflect and The Outsider find that anyone hurt by the Sacrifice's dagger seems to go crazy and attack people. They discover this after Reflect has already been cut. He briefly goes insane and attacks Outsider, but Outsider talks him down and they're able to subdue the other Sacrifice victims and confiscate the dagger. The cops show up and thank them.

- L'Esprit gets caught spying on a drug deal between a street gang and some corporate thugs. The deal goes bad and shots are fired; the corporate thugs respond by taking a drug that gives them super strength. Despite the drugs, the gang overwhelms them by sheer force of numbers. L'Esprit barely manages to swipe one of the briefcases they were fighting over.

- L'Esprit meets with the others and they find the briefcase is full of the same drugs. Outsider analyzes them and finds out they're a stimulant made with methamphetamines and alien technology, and are similar to the samples taken from the THULE lab. They find a gang member hurt but alive and question him, learning that the gang worked for Mr Bright, and that Bright's second-in-command is named Lobo. Oddly there are no cops to the scene despite the firefight.

- Next morning Pete Friendly wakes up to his brother asking him about a tux. Cygnus shows up and and says that Frankie and her are arguing about which planet to hold the wedding on. Pete tries to calm her but she kisses him. They both are confused and she leaves.

- Robbie runs into Roy, a running back for the Halycon High Supers. He talks about how they don't hang out anymore and wants to change that. He asks Robbie to go to the homecoming dance and game and he'll make sure he has a good time.

- Lio finds Marq sitting on her doorstep. He says his girlfriend kicked him out and he wants to stay with Lio until he clears it up. Lio agrees.

- Robbie meets with Mrs Ellis and she asks him about some pictures of graffiti she took that Robbie did as Reflect. She compares it the art Robbie does in class and Robbie lies about how he is a huge fan of supers and the Delinquent Corp. She buys it and encourages him.

- Pete skips school and tries finding crime to fight to keep his mind occupied. He calls L'Esprit since she's not in school. No crimes happen so instead he spills to L'Esprit about the kiss. They talk and hatch a plan to undermine Frankie's credibility with homeworld, starting by sabotaging his communications on his ship. It's after school so they bring Reflect along. As Pete is doing so, High Command comes up on the screen. Pete, disguised as Frankie, tries to convince them not to invade Earth but he find out that Frankie already ordered a covert invasion and there are already other agents on Earth. Pete ends the call and finishes the sabotage.

- Frankie then shows up. He decides to have the wedding on Earth and to invite their family and members of High Command. He is annoyed his comm is down but Pete insists he'll get it fixed, and Frankie casually reveals he and Cygnus can access Pete's ship at any time.

- Back in Pete's ship, he contacts their father to find out if Frankie has told them the truth about his relationship with Cygnus. Frankie has been sending reports, but Pete checks Cygnus's camera feed and finds that it shows a different story. Their dad gets frustrated when shown this and says he'll talk to Frankie, then hangs up.

- Pete gets another call from Mr Bright, saying that an ex-villain is being attacked by robots. Moments later the crime detector goes off for the same area. They rush to the scene and find chomper robots terrorizing bystanders and destroying a set of condos. Pete and Reflect are able to protect the civilians and stabilize the building. L'Esprit panics after being attacked and flees. The robots cut out a wall of a condo and start moving on the occupant.

- Lady Night speaks to L'Esprit, says she'll take care of the problem if L'Esprit hangs up the Spectre coat, which motivates L'Esprit enough to return and start shooting the robots. Pete turns giant and Reflect teleports into the condo, and the three of them find the robots' target, retired villainess The Blue Hydra. They're able to protect her from the remaining robots. Police begin to show up, so Pete scoops all of them including Blue Hydra into his ship and they fly off, pretending they can't hear the police demand they return the witness.

- The Blue Hydra tells them that Mr Bright is a disgraced former police commissioner, and that she recently met with the Exemplar members Omega and Badger. Otherwise she can give them no new information and insists she's done nothing wrong. L'Esprit gives her her phone number in case she remembers anything else. Mr Bright calls Pete to ask about Hydra. He lies that they dropped her at a hospital at her request. Instead they leave her with Dr Infinity and Vanquish.

- Bodyguard gets further training from Betty who injects her with further formula to enhance her powers. She develops to ability to spike her metallic skin but as she is testing her powers Kelsi shows up. Bodyguard grabs her and they run off.

The first team consisting of Bodyguard, Calavera and Officer search for a group calling themselves The Violent Group (Domingo Alvarez, Meche Hernandez, Rosalia Sanchez) who perform large scale vandalism.

They find The Violent Group trying to light up the Hollywood sign. Just as they get to them Gold Raven shows up. A fight breaks out as the Delinquent Corp tries to put out the sign but The Violent Group takes control of Gold Raven's mind forcing her to attack them and destroy the sign. In the end Gold Raven sends out a powerful blast knocking everyone down and the Delinquents are able to talk with The Violent Group. Gold Raven loses her memory.

- Ugat then leads a second team consisting of L'Espirit, Pete Friendly and Reflect to Santa Monica Beach to find the Cleanup Crew (Isaac Navarro, Esparanza Lopez, Violetta Marcos). The man is hostile to the Delinquents and Reflect realizes it is The Teacher in a new form. A small fight occurs but Pete Friendly and Reflect grab the teacher into Pete's ship where the teacher releases its control of the man.

The Delinquent Corp

- Reflect snaps out of his mind control realizing that he was sent to kill Miracle Woman. He had been walking in circles fighting the conditioning brought on by the Bodyguard program. He meets back up with the other Delinquents.

- The Delinquents get together in Balboa Park to discuss their plans against THULE.

- L'Esprit saw Reflect leave the THULE building while she was investigating it. She follows him to Balboa Park and finds Outsider's ship. While investigating Cygnus attacks her. Calavera then attacks Cygnus. Everyone in The Delinquents and The Corp see this and a fight breaks out.

- After Reflect knocks out Calavera the fight comes to an end and they discuss the confusion and come to peaceful terms. They decide to work together.

- Freddie for Real shows up and Cygnus announces they are getting married which has brought both off them a lot of publicity.

- Deciding to take the THULE offer, Pete called Dr Cosmos and arranged to meet the next day at Solana Beach. Since Officer expressed doubt about acting as a 'spy' and Ugat wasn't sure what THULE would want with L'Esprit, it was arranged that the two of them would instead shadow everyone else.

- Pete finished a device designed to block Dr Cosmos's mindreading and handed one out to everyone.

- Ugat got a phone call from Lindsey and bowed out of the meeting to go meet her.

- Reflect checked his messages, ignored several from his mom and returned one from Vanquish, who was freaked out about something.

- Calavera returned home, only to be confronted by her nemesis Sasha Blaze, who demonstrated time-control abilities. After tormenting Calavera, Sasha disappeared. Calavera called L'Esprit and they sought advice from Pete. He advised that they bring Sasha's presence to Dr Cosmos' attention.

- Dr Cosmos met with the Delinquents + Calavera and boarded a submarine with them. Pete left the keys to his ship so that L'Esprit and Officer could continue to follow. The submarine took the group to an underwater THULE base, the 'real' HQ. Aside from Colleen Drake, the THULE staff all acted drugged. Drake admitted to working with the Exemplars only begrudgingly and claimed to have ended THULE's contract with the Bodyguards.

- L'Esprit hecked up driving Pete's ship and wound up in space. Freddie Forreal showed up and helped, but only after psychically yelling at Pete. While the others stalled in dealing withCosmos and Drake, L'Esprit (with Freddie's help, again) downloaded as much information from the THULE computers as she could. The alien computer was not able to crack all of THULE's security, indicating another alien presence. L'Esprit and Officer infiltrated one of the testing rooms and discovered an unconscious Bodyguard being experimented on with some kind of alien goo that Pete did not recognize.

- Back with our heroes, they agreed to work with THULE to a limited extent. Their first assignment is to track down other kids in similar accidents to Ugat.

- Reflect left a duplicate and teleported to take samples of a tree on display and the alien goo. Unfortunately he got some of the goo on his hand.
